TEACHERS - ST MARYS RC SCHOOL WILTON STREETA teacher affects eternity:
he can never tell where his influence stops.
Henry Adams

TEACHERS - ST MARYS RC SCHOOL WILTON STREET READING THE ABOVE QUOTE I THINK IT IS TRUE FOR WE BOYS WHERE IN OUR LAST 3 YEARS OF SCHOOL LIFE WHEN MR HANSON FIRST CAME TO ST MARYS.DURING THOSE YEARS HE TRY HARD TO TEACH US SOME VALUES OF LIFE WHICH WOULD HELP US IN THE FUTURE AND IT MUST HAVE BEEN A BATTLE FOR HIM HAS THE SCHOOL CURRICULUM WAS STILL STUCK IN THE PAST. ON TOP OF ALL THESE WE KIDS SEEMED TO REBEL AGAINST ALL HE HAD TRIED TO TEACH US.YET THREW OUT MY LIFE I HAVE PRACTICE MANY OF THOSE VALUES.
IT WAS SAD WHEN MANY YEARS LATER I WAS TO MET THIS MAN WHO HAD A GREAT EFFECT ON MY OUT LOOK OF LIFE, YET HE COULD NOT REMEMBER MY NAME

It must have been the same for Mr Watson who took over the school when the church kept a very tight rein on how we children where taught . My father often told me that the priest who use to call at our house for a cup of tea would talk to my father about Mr Watson saying that he wanted to change things far too quick. but my dads answer was that if it gave us kids a better education then the changes could not come quick enough Every child who went to school will have good or bad memories of him l myself had many a good caning and even a clip around the ear from him but l never thought it was because he was cruel or disliked me , it was because l had done something wrong which l needed to be punished for.
those years at school did have a great effect on me. l left school with values and a sense of discipline and l know this was down to teachers like Mr Watson, Mr Hanson and the other teachers so if they was alive now l would say thank you to them all for l believe they all did their best for us kids.
