OUR LADY ST MARY

When l saw the statue in the new church l was close to tears
how l remember HER always looking down on us has we prayed,
l was so Happy to she her standing there yet at the same time l was saddened because l felt she was standing in the wrong place,
In my mind OUR LADY should be moved from the corner where she is now and put back in all her glory near the alter at the front of the church has she was in the old St Marys

SCHOOL AND CHURCH PHOTO,S - ST MARYS RC SCHOOL WILTON STREET

This is how the statue of St Mary should be looking down on the children going to receive their Communion not at the back of the church but that is only my view.

It was nice to see photo's of the church again, I could even envisage myself walking through the doors making the sign of the cross with the Holy water, then entering into the church. Always use to put a halfpenny into the box and light a candle for my mum (she died when I was 10 months old) It was such a beautiful church inside. I went to St Mary Queen of Martyrs a few times when my 2 sisters children were christened, it just didn't feel like a church to me, and the statue of Our Blessed Lady totally looked out of place. I wonder what happened to the other statues from our church. as they are not at the new St Mary's.
Jackie.
