WE URGENTLY NEED ANY PHOTO,S YOU MAY HAVE OF THE CHURCH OR SCHOOL ALONG WITH ANY PHOTO,S YOU MAY HAVE OF THE PUPILS IN JANUARY AND FEBRUARY OF NEXT YEAR THE PRINTING OF THE SITE PHOTOS WILL BE TAKING PLACE IN READINESS FOR THE SITE EXHIBITION SO PLEASE LOOK IN TO YOUR OLD FAMILY ALBUMS AND SEE IF YOU HAVE ANY PHOTO,S THAT YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY SENT IN. IN THE MEAN TIME COULD YOU PLEASE KEEP SPEADING THE WORD AROUND ABOUT THE SITE IN THE HOPE WE CAN GET MORE MEMBERS. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR HARD WORK
PHOTO EXHIBITION
THE committee of the Carnegie Heritage Centre center have confirmed that they would hold a exhibit of the site photo,s I think this is wonderful news has it means we will be able to reach many ex pupils and their families who do not have access to the Internet When we held the school re-union earlier this year l was total amazed at the large number of photo’s people had of the school and pupils, however we where not able to scan or copy them on the night. The centre has agreed to copy any photos that people may bring in on the days of the exhibition providing it does not infringe on any such copyrights.also copies of any photos which are on display will be available at a small cost all monies will go to the Carnegie heritage centre. The exhibition will be held over a 2 day period Friday 5th March from 5 00pm till 900 pm and Saturday 6th March from 10 30 am till 400 pm The aim of the exhibition IS TO PRESERVE THE HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL by showing the people of Hull, Photos of the first catholic school every to be built east of the river Hull The format of the exhibition will be photos and history of St Mary’s school RC Wilton Street. also photo’s of the area surrounding the school which many pupils came from and a brief history on the sister of mercy who came to Hull to teach at St Marys I would like to ask all members that if they have any photo,s of the school, church or pupils could they please send them in asp has the cataloging of the photos is going over the next few months in order to be ready for March. At the same time may l also ask you that has there is going to be and "NOW and THEN" section on the pupils of the school could any one who now wishes to write a small history of them selves and family which could also be put up on display (i.e. your life after school) The Carnegie heritage Centre provides a venue for local and family history research for the people of Hull l would like to thank the committee of the centre for agreeing to host the exhibition
THE SCHOOL LIVES ON
John brady wrote some sterling words in a thread on rememberance day "I would just like to take time out on this speacial sunday in our live,s, to remember all those ;boy,s and girl,s, who left the parish of ;st mary,s;and east hull ,to take part in the two ;world war,s; and not forgetting all the recent conflict,s,"
we all know of a pupils who have passed away but they need never be forgotten while we remember them on this site. Like the school their memories can live on
If any one where to walk down Wilton street they would not see any thing that would give a person a clue that a school or church once stood down there for so many years, for both the church and school where demolished many years ago. On the site where they once stood now stands some industrial units. I was not there at the previous reunions but when l attended the one this year it was clear to see that the pupils who had attended the school no matter how old they may be now have never forgotten the school or its teachers. We can never rebuild the school, but what we can do is keep its memory alive .It was clear to see that some people had lots of photographs of the school and the pupils who attended the school. They also had some grand stories to tell and it would be a great shame if they where lost in the years to come. The site has given some of us a chance to save our memories and photo’s and while we continue to add to the threads and the pages of the site, the school will never be forgotten. “THE SCHOOL MAY HAVE BEEN DEMOLISHED BUT IT CAN LIVE ON “

FRIENDS MEET UP AFTER 47 YEARS
SCHOOL FRIENDS, ANN GARVEY AND ANGIE MOOR (ANGLIA ROCKET) MET UP IN DEBENHAMS THIS YEAR FOR THE FIRST TIME IN OVER 47 YEARS DUE TO BEEN RE- UNITED BY ST MARYS SCHOOL SITE.
I AM SO PLEASED THAT THE SITE PLAYED A PART IN BRINGING FRIENDS TOGETHER HAS THAT WAS JUST ONE OF THE AIMS I HAD WHEN I FIRST STARTED THIS SITE.

HOW GREAT WE HAVE NOW GOT 106 SITE MEMBERS BUT SURLY WE CANT BE THE LAST OF THE MANY PUPILS THAT WENT TO ST MARYS, SO LETS ALL GET CRACKING TRYING TO RECRUIT NEW MEMBERS . IF YOU ARE IN CONTACT WITH ANY EX-PUPILS PLEASE TELL THEM ABOUT THE SITE AND ASK THEM TO JOIN IF YOU ALSO HAVE ANY IDEA,S ON HOW TO CONTACT EX PUPILS PLEASE LET ME KNOW

Great idea such a shame I dont hve any pics, cameras where a luxury in the early 40's, liek most other thigns were too but there was a gret spirit in the school
